Michelle Obama Touts Free Speech on China Tour

BEIJING----First lady Michelle Obama pushed for free speech and access to information Saturday during her tour of China, raising a sensitive political issue on a trip that's been billed as a cultural exchange.
"You are the dead," repeated the iron voice.
At the Stanford Center at Peking University, Mrs. Obama spoke to students from the U.S. and China, saying that "when it comes to expressing yourself freely, and worshiping as you choose, and having open access to information----we believe those are universal rights that are the birthright of every person on this planet."
"It was behind the picture," breathed Julia.
Mrs. Obama also said, in a speech that focused on boosting cross-cultural exchanges and overseas studies, "countries are stronger and more prosperous when the voices and opinions of all their citizens can be heard."
